6. Certification
To enter the market with a small wind turbine product often the following or similar certifications are required:
- IEC 61400-2 Design requirements for small wind turbines
- IEC 61400-11 Acoustic noise measurement techniques
- IEC 61400-12 Power performance measurements of electricity producing wind turbines
While the results of the tests according to IEC 61400-11 and 61400-12 influence on the marketability of the small wind turbine, the result of the tests and calculations according to IEC 61400-2 indicates if the turbine can be used in a market at all. As more and more building administrations and funding agencies are requiring certifications before granting permission those turbines providing the required certifications and showing good results in the related tests will prevail in the long run.
INENSUS supports small wind turbine manufacturers designing their turbine for certification, prepares the comprehensive documentation required and carries out necessary strength calculations of turbine components. Additionally, INENSUS sets up measurements to be carried out in cooperation with a certifying body. On demand INENSUS establishes contact to a certification body meeting the respective demand of the small wind turbine manufacturer.
